World Communion Sunday 2026

WCS2026 RECAP: One Table. One Savior. One Family.

On a rainy, but comfortably cool day, the congregations of Sanctuary@SACC came together to celebrate World Communion Sunday. We were joining in spirit many hundreds of thousands of congregations from around the world who were also coming to the Lord’s Table on this first Sunday in October. We gathered around the ONE Table of our Lord to worship the ONE Savior of the World and to celebrate the ONE new family He is creating through His Gospel.

Though the universal church comes from different nations, consisting of many cultures and languages, we are united in Jesus Christ and in His sacrificial death on our behalf.

Pastor Frantz Ulysse from the First Haitian Church of God of Prophecy spoke on how Jesus is the transcendent Bread of Life, providing hope, strength, and comfort in these difficult times. We then went to the Lord’s Table, reminding ourselves that the Church is not defined by where we come from, but by the One who has welcomed us into His family. And because Christ has welcomed us, He calls us to welcome others. Jesus defines authentic, living faith as caring for the foreigner in our midst.

Welcoming the Stranger. Welcoming Christ.

In Matthew 25:35, our Lord surprises the faithful by saying: “I was a stranger and you welcomed me.” As we have opportunity, therefore, we are to do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith (Galatians 6:10).

At the occasion of WCS2026 we heard the call to welcome the stranger, and to stand alongside our Haitian brothers and sisters in Philadelphia who are facing tremendous uncertainty following the termination of their Temporary Protected Status (TPS). Many are confronting the loss of employment and the ability to provide for themselves and their families. In response, and according to the longstanding tradition of our WCS observances, we took a special offering to provide practical assistance to those in need within our Haitian community. We praise God that we were able to raise $1,951.

Indeed, when we welcome and love the stranger in Christ’s name, we welcome Christ Himself.

Blessed by Christ. Blessed to be a Blessing!

Whenever we gather at Christ’s Table, we are reminded that His welcome does not end with the worship service. It extends outward to those who are hurting, uncertain, and in need.

The invitation of the Gospel is offered freely to all: to believe in Christ, receive the forgiveness of sins, be given eternal life, and begin a new life of walking in the light of his wisdom and love. Having been so blessed, we seek to be a blessing!
